Construction Update - Week of May 30th

For the week of May 30th, weather permitting, the following work is scheduled:

Conz and Pleasant Streets - Roundabout Pre-Construction Begins
  • Gomes Construction of Ludlow is the general contractor for the roundabout construction under a contract with MassDOT.
  • There will be NO WORK on Monday and Tuesday due to the Memorial Day Holiday.
  • Gomes will begin water main installation on Wednesday June 1st.
  • Through traffic will be maintained at all times. Lane closures for one-way traffic are restricted to between 9 am and 3 pm. No detours are anticipated.
  •  If possible, motorists should seek alternate routes or EXPECT DELAYS. Please obey directions from police officers and be considerate of the work area and other motorists.
Florence Road
  • Traffic counters have been placed on Florence Road north of Scanlon Avenue and approaching the intersection of Ryan Road and Spring Streets. A temporary speed hump has been installed in the northbound lane and will remain in place until mid-June to determine its effectiveness for traffic calming.
Pulaski Park
  • Mountain View Landscapes & Lawncare, Inc. continues with the renovation of Pulaski Park.
  • The park will be closed to the public for the duration of the project which is scheduled to be completed in June. The stairway from the Roundhouse parking lot to South Street at the back of the Academy of Music will remain open.
Pulaski Park Underground Utilities
  • Verizon is scheduled to install their underground wiring and remove utility poles once their services have been transferred to the underground lines and overhead wires have been removed.

Construction Update - Week of May 23rd

For the week of May 23rd, weather permitting, the following work is scheduled:

Conz and Pleasant Streets - Roundabout Pre-Construction Begins
  • Gomes Construction of Ludlow is the general contractor for the roundabout construction under a contract with MassDOT.
  • Columbia Gas work is complete.
  • Gomes will be doing miscellaneous work Monday through Thursday, such as saw cutting, to prepare for water main installation, which will begin on Wednesday June 1st.
  • There will be NO WORK on Friday and the following Monday and Tuesday due to the Memorial Day Holiday.
  • Through traffic will be maintained at all times. Lane closures for one-way traffic are restricted to between 9 am and 3 pm. No detours are anticipated.

For the week of May 16th, weather permitting, the following work is scheduled:

Conz and Pleasant Streets - Roundabout Pre-Construction Begins
  • Gomes Construction of Ludlow is the general contractor for the roundabout construction under a contract with MassDOT.
  • Columbia Gas will continue relocating the gas line along Conz Street from the bowling alley toward Wright Avenue.
  • Monday: Gomes Construction will be removing traffic islands.
  • Once the gas relocation is complete, Gomes will begin replacing the water line from Wright Avenue to just beyond the levee. This work should take about 1 month.
  • Through traffic will be maintained at all times. Lane closures for one-way traffic are restricted to between 9 am and 3 pm. No detours are anticipated.
  •  If possible, motorists should seek alternate routes or EXPECT DELAYS. Please obey directions from police officers and be considerate of the work area and other motorists.
Florence Road
  •  Traffic counters have been placed on Florence Road north of Scanlon Avenue and appraoching the intersection of Ryan Road and Spring Streets. A temporary speed hump will be installed in the northbound lane on Thursday, May 19th and remain in place for one month to its determine the effectiveness for traffic calming.
Pulaski Park
  • Mountain View Landscapes & Lawncare, Inc. continues with the renovation of Pulaski Park.
  • The park will be closed to the public for the duration of the project which is scheduled to be completed in June. The stairway from the Roundhouse parking lot to South Street at the back of the Academy of Music will remain open.

  • Comcast will complete final cut overs to new underground wiring and begin removing overhead wires. Verizon is scheduled to follow with their wiring and the removal of affected utility poles once their services have been transferred to the underground lines and overhead wires have been removed.
