Temporary Road Closure on Phillips Place



The Department of Public Works will have a temporary road closure on Phillips Place between Hawley Street and Pomeroy Terrace.

This temporary closure will take place on Monday December 11th, 2017 between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Emergency and resident vehicles will have access from either end of the street.

The closure is required in order to complete emergency repairs to a sanitary sewer service.

Vehicle traffic will return to normal after the work is complete, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes if possible.

Motorists are advised to approach this work zone with caution, and be prepared for traffic delays.

Construction for the Week of 12-11-17 Weather Permitting

Hinckley Street   


  • Ludlow Construction will continue to construct the new water system on Hinckley Street, in between Winslow Avenue and Nonotuck Street this week.  Unanticipated water shutdowns on Hinckley St may occur as we continue to install the new water system in close proximity to the 130 year-old water main that still serves residence along the Street. 
  • Expect temporary road closures on Hinckley Street and the intersections of Wislow Avenue and Maplewood Terrace.
  • The work on this road includes the replacement of water, sewer and drainage utilities, a new drainage outfall off Riverside Drive, new sidewalk, roadway reconstruction and repaving, and a raised crosswalk across Nonotuck Street.
Pleasant and Holyoke Streets 
  •  George Cairns and Sons Construction will continue installing a large drainage culvert in Holyoke Street and the Lumberyard property. Holyoke Street will be CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC from Pleasant Street to Hawley Street until late December. Access for local residents and businesses will be maintained.
  • The work consists of realigning a section of drainage culvert behind the former Northampton Lumber site and across Holyoke Street in order to accommodate the redevelopment of the site.
Day Avenue, North Maple Street & North Farms Road


  • Caracas Construction has demobilized for the season. Final roadway and sidewalk paving and greenbelt restoration will occur next spring.
  • Work on North Maple Street and North Farms Road is complete for the season. A section of drainage pipe near the intersection with Mountain Street and a permanent trench patch for the water line replacement will occur next spring.

 Audubon Road  


  • Borges Construction has demobilized for the season. Final paving and lawn restoration will occur next spring.
  • The work on this road includes replacing water and drain lines and a box culvert followed by reclaiming and repaving of the roadway from the center of Leeds to near house #200.

Travel Lane Shift on State Street



The Department of Public Works will have a travel lane shift on State State between Bright Street and Trumbull Road.

This lane shift will take place on Thursday December 7th, 2017 between 7:30am and 4:00pm.

Temporary Road Closure on Woodmont Road

Woodmont Road between North Street and Bradford Street will be temporarily closed to thru traffic on Tuesday December 5th & 6th, 2017.

The temporary road closure on Woodmont Road will be from 7:30am until 4:00pm to complete emergency maintenance to the storm water culvert under the road. Residents & Emergency vehicles will have access to their driveways via Woodmont and Bradford Street ends.

The road will reopen open after the work is complete, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes if possible.

The roadway may be CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC during work hours. Motorists should seek alternate routes.  Access for local residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained.
  • Work on North Maple Street and North Farms Road is complete for the season, although the contractor may be adjusting water gate boxes this week. A section of drainage pipe near the intersection with Mountain Street and a permanent trench patch for the water line replacement will occur next spring.
 Audubon Road  

  • Borges Construction is demobilizing for the season.  Final paving and lawn restoration will occur next spring. The roadway may be CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC during work hours. Access for local residents will be maintained. Emergency vehicles and school buses will be allowed to pass through the site. Motorists should seek alternate routes. The road will be re-opened after work hours for all vehicles.
  • The work on this road includes replacing water and drain lines and a box culvert followed by reclaiming and repaving of the roadway from the center of Leeds to near house #200.
Reservoir Road 
  • Davenport Trucking will continue repairs to rehabilitate the channel and stream bank erosion just downstream of the Lower Roberts Meadow Dam. The roadway will be open, but motorists should use caution and be aware of heavy construction vehicles entering and leaving the site.

  • The work requires bypass pumping of stream flows in order to complete stream channel and bank rehabilitation. Weather permitting, the work is anticipated to be substantially complete this construction season.

  • Ludlow Construction will continue to construct the new water system on Hinckley Street, in the vicinity of Warner Street this week.  A water shutdown on Warner Street between Hinckley St and Norwood Avenue will be performed on Tuesday November 21.  Work will not be happening on Thursday and Friday due to the Thanksgiving Holiday

  • The work on this road includes the replacement of water, sewer and drainage utilities, a new drainage outfall off Riverside Drive, new sidewalk, roadway reconstruction and repaving, and a raised crosswalk across Nonotuck Street.
