- Last week, Public Works repaired potholes on Front Street, Old Ferry Road, Parsons Street, Summer Street, Williams Street, Bridge Road, Cross Street,
- Scanlon Avenue, South Street and repaired the entrance to the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
- To report a pothole, please submit a request for Pothole Repair. The largest potholes are filled first to alleviate hazards to vehicles. As hazards arise and are identified, they will be addressed.
- Grading of the roads in the Northampton Meadows area has begun.
Elm Street
- Paving repairs of lower Elm Street between Riverside Drive and Cooley Dickinson’s service entrance is complete. Detours have been removed and the road is now open.
Burts Pit Road Paving Project
- Palmer Paving is continuing preparations for paving Burts Pit Road from Clement Street to Forest Glen Road.
- Drainage improvements are continuing between Clement Street and Florence Road, followed by spot drain repairs along Burts Pit Road east of Florence Road. The section of the roadway between Clement Street and Florence Road is closed to through traffic until at least May 3. Driveways will be accessible during construction.
- Pavement reclamation is anticipated to begin on May 13.
- The Clement Street Bridge will remain open throughout construction. Through traffic may be limited to one lane during certain phases of the project; expect delays.
Damon Road, Bridge Street, Exit 19
- MassDOT has contracted with Baltazar Contractors, Inc. to construct a roundabout and associated improvements to the Exit 19 interchange at the base of the Coolidge Bridge. The work is scheduled to be completed by June 2021.
- Preliminary work, which is anticipated to begin this week, includes construction signage installation and survey.
- Questions about the project should be directed to MassDOT District 2.
Bridge Road at Cooke Avenue
- The City has contracted with Dagle Electric Corporation to upgrade the traffic signal and controls at the intersection of Bridge Road, Cooke Avenue and Jackson Street.
- The new signal is operating, and Dagle will be completing site restoration and timing adjustments within the next few weeks.
Chesterfield Road at Kennedy Road - Upper Roberts Meadow Reservoir Dam
- SumCo Eco-Contracting, LLC has removed the dam and completed the in-water work. Initial restoration of the staging area is complete and final restoration of the staging area and access roads will be completed in the spring of 2019.
- The project has removed the Upper Roberts Reservoir Dam and restored the Roberts Meadow Brook stream channel to its natural course.
Main Street
- Innovative Data, on behalf of Toole Design, which is under contract with the City for the redesign of Main Street, will be installing traffic counters and collecting turning movement counts along Main Street over the next few weeks.
Flood Control System Maintenance Project
- The City has contracted with Northern Tree Service to perform vegetation removal and maintenance work on portions of the flood control system.
- Work on the bridge on South Street near Earle Street that crosses the Mill River diversion channel includes flood control structures is complete. The area was seeded last week.
- Work will be conducted this week on the earthen levees adjacent to Pleasant Street and the Hockanum Road Pumping Station.
Ellington Road
- Geeleher Enterprises has begun construction of a new sewer manhole at the end of Ellington Road. No parking signs are posted and construction work began on April 23.
- The sewer work should be mostly completed on Friday April 26th. Pavement repairs will occur later after the site has stabilized. .
Park Hill Road
- The Park Hill Road stream crossing has been installed and the roadway opened to traffic. There is no longer a detour in place.
- Site restoration of wetland areas and roadside drain will continue this week.
- Paving will occur after other site restoration is complete.
2018 Paving & Roadway Improvements
- The project commenced in August 2018 and includes Pleasant Street, Hampton Avenue, Wright Avenue, Cooke Avenue and Fulton Avenue. The Contractor for this project is Warner Bros., LLC of Sunderland MA. The Contractor will be working on various punch list items and site restoration.
