​North Elm Street & Hatfield Street Road Closure

Hatfield Street (between Bridge Road and North Elm Street) and North Elm Street (between Bridge Road and Hatfield Street) will be closed Wednesday, June 5, 2019 until 4pm due to work associated with the Bridge Road paving project. ​There is a detour posted at the intersection of North Elm Street and Hatfield Street​. Access to homes and businesses on Hatfield Street and North Elm Street will be allowed. Emergency services, PVTA, and Northampton School Transportation Services have been notified.

• Last week, Public Works repaired potholes on Park Hill Road, Spring Street, North Farms Road, Middle Street, West Center Street, Garfield Avenue, Verona Street, Coles Meadow Road, Damon Road, and Leeds Bridge near the Country Club.
• To report a pothole, please submit a request for Pothole Repair. The largest potholes are filled first to alleviate hazards to vehicles. As hazards arise and are identified, they will be addressed.
• Sidewalk repair was done on State Street.

Burts Pit Road Paving Project

• Palmer Paving is continuing work on the paving project for Burts Pit Road from Clement Street to Forest Glen Road. 
• The first course of pavement started on May 30 and will continue into the week of June 3. 
• Structure adjustment and the final pavement course will follow. 
• The Clement Street Bridge will remain open throughout construction. Through traffic may be limited to one lane during certain phases of the project; expect delays.  

Damon Road, Bridge Street, Exit 19

• MassDOT has contracted with Baltazar Contractors, Inc. to construct a roundabout and associated improvements to the Exit 19 interchange at the base of the Coolidge Bridge. The work is scheduled to be completed by June, 2021.
• Preliminary work includes construction signage installation, survey and work on the northbound I-91 off ramp and utility relocations.
• Questions about the project should be directed to MassDOT District 2.

Chesterfield Road at Kennedy Road - Upper Roberts Meadow Reservoir Dam

• SumCo Eco-Contracting, LLC has removed the dam and completed the in-water work. Initial restoration of the staging area is complete and final restoration of the staging area and access roads is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 3rd and be complete by the end of the month. 
• The project has removed the Upper Roberts Reservoir Dam and restored the Roberts Meadow Brook stream channel to its natural course.

• The City has decided to award a contract to Palmer Paving for paving and roadway improvements on Chesterfield Road (Westhampton Town Line to Kennedy Road), Spring Street (Dimock Street to Col. Lavalley Lane; Meadow Street to Pine Street), Main Street - Leeds (Spring Street to 535 feet northerly at the Mill River bridge), and Cross Street (Florence Road to Bliss Street). The scope of this project includes pavement reclamation, cold in-place recycling, line painting, and drainage improvements.  Work is anticipated to begin this summer.
• Project utility markings have begun and will continue next week. Sign installation is expected to begin.

• The City has contracted with Warner Bros for paving on Bridge Road from 100 feet west of Juniper Street to Hatfield Street and Glendale Road from 230 feet south of Westhampton Road to the Easthampton Town line. • On Bridge Road, pavement milling is scheduled for Monday (6/3) to Thursday (6/6).
• On Glendale Road, the Contractor will be excavating and grading the roadway.

• The new signal is operating, and Dagle will be completing site restoration and timing adjustments within the next few weeks.

The section of Burts Pit Road between Redford Drive and Rural Lane will be closed on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The closure is planned between 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM for drainage work associated with with the Burts Pit Road paving project. There will be a detour in place and police details will be scheduled at both ends. Emergency services have been notified.

• Paving repairs of lower Elm Street between Riverside Drive and Cooley Dickinson’s service entrance is complete. Detours have been removed and the road is now open.

• Drainage improvements are continuing between Clement Street and Florence Road, followed by spot drain repairs along Burts Pit Road east of Florence Road. The section of the roadway between Clement Street and Florence Road is closed to through traffic until at least May 3. Driveways will be accessible during construction. 
• Pavement reclamation is anticipated to begin on May 13.

2018 Paving & Roadway Improvements

• The project commenced in August 2018 and includes Pleasant Street, Hampton Avenue, Wright Avenue, Cooke Avenue and Fulton Avenue. The Contractor for this project is Warner Bros., LLC of Sunderland MA. The Contractor will be working on various punch list items and site restoration.

Lower Elm Street

Paving of lower Elm Street between Riverside Drive and Cooley Dickinson’s service entrance is complete. Detours have been removed and the road is now open.

Prospect Avenue

A portion of Prospect Avenue has been temporarily closed for emergency sewer line work. A detour is in place. Work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the day April 23, 2019.

Lower Elm Street Paving

Paving of lower Elm Street between Riverside Drive and Cooley Dickinson’s service entrance will begin on Tuesday, April 23rd at 7:00am. Detours will continue to be in place until the road is reopened to all traffic, which is anticipated to be Friday, April 26th. Additional updates will be posted  here if needed.

Park Hill Road

Park Hill Road has been opened to traffic.  There is no longer a detour in place.
