Chesterfield Road paving update 10-1-19

On Tuesday, October 1, from 7 AM until 5 PM, the City will be paving Chesterfield Road.  Chesterfield Road and Montague Road will be closed to through traffic. Only residents and emergency vehicles will have access.  Police officers will be present and emergency services have been notified.

Construction for the week of September 30, weather permitting

Highway Division Update

• Last week, the Highway Division:
• Repaired potholes on Overlook Drive, Woods Road and Fort Street.
• Completed drain work on Fort Street, Olive Street and Arch Street.
• Completed curb repair on O’Donnell Drive.
• To report a pothole, please submit a request for Pothole Repair. The largest potholes are filled first to alleviate hazards to vehicles. As hazards arise and are identified, they will be addressed.
• Street sweeping in Wards 1 and 6 is complete.
• Street sweeping in Ward 5 will continue next week.

Burts Pit Road Paving Project

• The paving project is substantially complete.
• The Contractor will be working on guardrail, signs and curb repair during the following weeks.
• Touch-ups to the loam and seed along the shoulder (roadway edge) will be made at the end of the project.

Chesterfield Road, Spring Street, Main Street (Leeds) and Cross Street Paving Project

• On Spring Street, Main Street (Leeds) and Cross Street, the Contractor will continue work on sidewalk, curb, and loam.
• On Chesterfield Road, the Contractor will adjust structures (manholes, catch basins).

Bridge Road, Brisson Drive, Denise Court and Glendale Road Paving Project

• On Glendale Rd, the Contractor will work on line painting, driveway aprons, and loam behind the curb.
• On Bridge Road, no work is anticipated this week.

Pavement Markings

• The City has contracted with Hi-Way Safety Systems to repaint pavement markings across the City. This includes double yellow center lines, white edge lines, speed hump markings, arrows, railroad markings and crosswalks.

Bridge Street, Damon Road, Interstate 91 - Exit 19

• MassDOT has contracted with Baltazar Contractors, Inc. to construct a roundabout and associated improvements to the Interstate 91 - Exit 19 interchange at the base of the Coolidge Bridge. The work is scheduled to be completed by June 2021.
• Preliminary work includes construction survey, work on the northbound I-91 off ramp and southbound I-91 on ramp, and utility relocations.
• Questions about the project should be directed to MassDOT District 2.

Fair Street water service 10/1/19

Water service on Fair Street will be unavailable on October 1st from 8AM to 2PM to accommodate hydrant repairs. All affected residents and/or businesses have been notified. "

South Main Street

• The City has contracted with Eastern Pipe Service to clean and video select sanitary sewer mains.  The Contractor will be working on South Main Street in Florence, between Main St and Nonotuck Street, on Tuesday, September 25th.

On Monday, September 23rd from 6:30 AM until 5 PM, the City will be paving Glendale Road. Glendale Road, Brisson Drive and Park Hill Road Extension will be closed to through traffic. Pomeroy Terrace

• Pomeroy Terrace will be closed on Monday, September 16th near the intersection of Bridge Street for sewer work by Saltmarsh Industries for a private developer. Please seek alternate routes.

• The City has contracted with Hi-Way Safety Systems to repaint pavement markings across the City. This includes double yellow center lines, white edge lines, speed hump markings, arrows, railroad markings and crosswalks.

Clement Street Bridge

• The City has contracted with NEL Corp to remove and replace the Clement Street bridge deck protective surfacing and to repave 30 feet at the deck approaches.
• The Contractor plans to clean and install new surface on the bridge deck this week.
• The bridge is expected to reopen by the end of September 2019.

• To report a pothole, please submit a request for Pothole Repair. The largest potholes are filled first to alleviate hazards to vehicles. As hazards arise and are identified, they will be addressed.
• Last week, the Highway Division repaired catch basins on Masonic Street, Gothic Street and North Farms Road.
• Last week, the Highway Division graded the following dirt roads: Walnut Trees Path, Webbs Hollow Road, Old Ferry Road, Riverbank Road and Rainbow Road.
• Street sweeping in Ward 1 has been completed.
• Street sweeping in Ward 6 has begun and will continue next week.
