Highway Division Update
- Last week, the Highway Division:
- Repaired potholes on Locust Street and Harold Street; and
- Installed new curbing on Winter Street, Washington Place and Brookside Circle.
- To report a pothole, please submit a request for Pothole Repair. The largest potholes are filled first to alleviate hazards to vehicles. As hazards arise and are identified, they will be addressed.
- Street sweeping in Ward 1 has been completed and Ward 6 is almost complete.
- Street sweeping in Ward 5 has begun and will continue next week.
- The paving project is substantially complete.
- The Contractor will be working on guardrail, signs and curb repair during the following weeks.
- Touch-ups to the loam and seed along the shoulder (roadway edge) will be made at the end of the project.
- On Spring Street, Main Street (Leeds) and Cross Street, the Contractor will work on curb, loam and seed installation.
- On Chesterfield Road, no work is planned for this week. Paving is planned for Monday, September 23rd and Tuesday, September 24th, weather permitting. Detours will be in place.
- On Bridge Road, the Contractor will continue installing loam adjacent to curbs.
- On Glendale Road, the Contractor will work along the shoulder (roadway edge) and on installing curb, backfilling behind curb and relocating mail boxes. Paving is planned for Monday, September 23rd, weather permitting.
- Pomeroy Terrace will be closed on Monday, September 16th near the intersection of Bridge Street for sewer work by Saltmarsh Industries for a private developer. Please seek alternate routes.
- The City has contracted with Hi-Way Safety Systems to repaint pavement markings across the City. This includes double yellow center lines, white edge lines, speed hump markings, arrows, railroad markings and crosswalks.
- The City has contracted with NEL Corp to remove and replace the Clement Street bridge deck protective surfacing and to repave 30 feet at the deck approaches.
- The Contractor plans to clean and install new surface on the bridge deck this week.
- The bridge is expected to reopen by the end of September 2019.
- MassDOT has contracted with Baltazar Contractors, Inc. to construct a roundabout and associated improvements to the Interstate 91 - Exit 19 interchange at the base of the Coolidge Bridge. The work is scheduled to be completed by June 2021.
- Preliminary work includes construction survey, work on the northbound I-91 off ramp and southbound I-91 on ramp, and utility relocations.
